Exaggerated Headline: An Extreme Pursuit of Liberty…

Stumbled upon this one at 4wdandsportutility.com.

I’m not a Liberty fan, but I have to admit that this is a pretty cool truck, in appearance and execution. I mean, how many rigs can claim to have a part called a “6inch gyro-joint”?

That said…why would you go to all this trouble with a Liberty as your starting point. I assume that with this rig money was no option and a certain amount of luxury was required. Personally, I would have gone with a Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee, Suzuki Sidekick…ok, maybe not a sidekick, but you get the point.

Article says the rig belongs to Seth Green (aka Scotty Evil)?

  1. If one wants an XJ or TJ Unlimited, one should buy an XJ or TJ Unlimited, and not have to suffer the 3.7L minivan engine. I mean seriously, this guy probably has $25k tied up in his KJ, and could have built an identical XJ that would have performed just as well, with more power, and equal comfort for half that! As noted in previous articles, you can make a hippy bus into a monster too, but why!

  2. BTW, I would totally own and drive the monster hippy bus.

  3. I’d drive the Liberty too…

And if I was Oz the werewolf (or Scotty Evil), I would probably have the $ to build it.

    Minivan Engine?

  4. When the bohemian geniuses at the former Daimler/Chrysler decided to deep six the XJ, they decided the best small truck torque engine ever made (the 4.0/4.2L I-6) had to go too, and replaced it with a 3.7L V6 from a Chrysler minivan. On paper it wasn’t bad, since it appears to have a similar torque number and slightly more horsepower. In reality the torque curve is no longer flat like the 4.0, and the peaks don’t occur until over 4k rpm – not exactly ideal for wheeling…

WTF are you talking about with “Oz the werewolf and Scotty Evil”? Put down the bong!

  5. Do you know who Seth Green is?

  6. I now gather he has something to do with Oz and Evil, but no, not a clue.

  7. I got it! Dr. Evil’s kid in Austin Powers, right??!

  8. very good. you need to get out more…brush up on useless pop-cultural literacy.
