Seems like every time I turn around I find another race series I had never heard of. In this particular case, I came across a new (to me) off road racing site and a story about Baja Racing of Texas. Sounds like a pretty cool little event at one of those tiny Texas ranches. Not sure I’ll become an official fan, but the photo gallery here has some great rigs.
I spent part of my growing up years offroading in Texas. I had a good 20 mile run of dirt roads on my “shortcut” to work in highschool. After a couple of years of running those same roads over and over, I was bump 80mph on the straight aways. On gravel, it’s a lot more like driving a boat rather than a vehicle. It’s a good thing I didn’t know about any such rally racing type events back then. It was bad enough that I found out about Barnwell Mountain.
