Mini to Enter WRC

While I am pleased to hear that another manufacturer is entering WRC competition (the Fords, Renaults, and Peugeots all start to look the same), I have to admit I posted this mainly for the cool illustration.

So I’m checking out the message boards at Expedition Portal and I come across this photo.  The phrase “holy crap, look at that” comes to mind.

Being a Frontier owner I naturally follow the usual path of links and find myself at the website for an operation called Arctic Trucks.  The name kind of says it all, but it looks far more amazing than I can describe.  These guys clearly take the freeze-out to a different level.

Sad, but true.  Say it ain’t so.  Hell has frozen over.  Insert cliche here.

After 23 years, Bigfoot is no longer a Ford.

Sissy Taureg? Think Again

I’m not sure if this Taureg was designed by VW or NASA, but it looks like fun.

Don’t Do This

Great collection of warning signs from Jalopnik.  I want to know how these signs are created, reviewed and approved.  Is there some international governing body and a designated contract cartoonist that put these together?  Why do they all look the same?

Yes, you too can compete in the Lucas Oil Off Road Truck Series.  This program from Speed Technologies’ SuperLite Arrive & Drive rental program, puts you in a race-ready truck and fires you down the track in an actual racing event.

All it takes is passion, dedication, travel, and about $8000…per day.  Of course, if you want to try an entire season without the commitment of starting your own team, you can do that for about $52 Grand.

Not a bad deal, all things considered.  If I were exceedingly wealthy, I might even consider this over the Mustang Driving Experience or the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Of course, if I had that kind of money lying around, I would probably do them all.

Dog’s Got Skills

Just had to pass this one along.  Sounds like this dog somehow inherited the gearhead gene and spends most of his time on a dirt bike, even when it’s in use.

Not sure I would do this with a dog, and I’m sure PETA camps out in front of this guy’s house, but it makes for a cool story and photo.

Blast From the Past

With the new year arriving and a new site update on the way (stay tuned), I decided to get nostalgic and take a look back at where we’ve been with Sevenmile.net.  Remember this?  Pretty contemporary looking for each period, I’d say…

2001

2002

2003

2005

I have multiple versions of the site backed up in various places and forms, but rather than dig up my own archives, I decided to take a look at  the Wayback Machine on Archive.org.

I’d heard of the Archive.org project before, but had never taken a good look at it.  Definitely worth spending some time there to remember the good ‘ol days of the Web.

I was amazed to see our little site represented in so many versions and with such detail. Enjoy the trip down memory lane, and don’t forget that more recent history can be accessed with the Sevenmile Classic link, elsewhere on this page.
