FORD OPPOSING DUAL STEERING STABILIZERS

I always liked the opposing stabilizer kits that everyone sells for Chevy/GMC trucks. For some reason no one makes it for Ford. I suspect this is because of Ford's fuc*ed up experiment with ram steering systems.

My 79 F250 came with the non-ram power steering option and my single stabilizer system was no longer cutting the mustard. I looked at the stacked dual systems with the one cylinder on top of the other and opted away from it because one of the cylinders is always in the rocks. We all know that god forgives and rocks don't; accordingly, I wanted the cylinders as high up as I could go. I took a look at the system on Chad's truck and decided I would build it for my Ford.

I called Four Wheel Parts Wholesalers and ordered up two Skyjacker Nitro Cell stabilizers with dual eye ends (cost around 70$).

I got a piece of ¼ inch flat steel about 4 inches by 14 for the center support. The torch (blue wrench) was used to heat the steel to cherry red and a 5 lb hammer (bfh) was used to pound a bend into it that fit the top of my axle tube. 5/8 x 2 grade eight bolts washers and nuts where used to bolt everything together. I scrounged the u-bolts for the axle tube off of my old stabilizer bracket. The u-bolts for the tie rod side came from AutoZone's u-joint section. ¼ steel end plates were drilled to hold the stabilizer ends to the tie rod. Be sure to cycle the steering before cinching all of the bolts to make sure there is no interference and that you aren't limiting your turning radius with the stabilizers.
